The popular author and psychic Sylvia Browne has a book out entitled If You Could See What I See in which she speaks of finding the God-Center within herself. As I look back on my own experiences of the God-Center and the greater Circle of Life that surrounds us, I'd like to share with you what I have come to know about the Self. I offer these insights for our own consideration:
If you could see what I see, you would know that there is life after death. You would know that, in fact, there is no death. You would know that you are immortal, that You - as the Self, your true identity - has never died, nor was it ever "born." You - your "I" - is alive forever. If you could see what I see, you would know that you live in a community of spiritual beings who love you and know you and want to share the extraordinary riches of a dazzling universe with you. If you could see what I see, you would know that Love is all there is, and all that matters, that all else is illusion. You would know that the greatest illusion is that you limit your sense of self to a very puny, predictable world. You would understand that you are so much more than the condition of your body, the thoughts of your mind, and the roller coaster of emotions bubbling through your personality.
If you could see what I see, you would realize that your body/mind/emotions are no more you than the glass cup is the water it holds within it. You would realize that if you could just shift your attention to the Stream of Life that courses through you, you would gradually begin to establish yourself in your Greatness. You would realize that pettiness and fear, competition and greed are irrelevant and only reinforce the wall that keeps you locked in your emotions, separated from your true dazzling Self. If you could see what I see, you would know that Love is the only Reality that matters, that Love is the answer to every question, and the solution to every challenge. You would realize that love is the only experience that lasts. All else passes away, and you are that Love. You will never pass away. Love and the Self are One.
If you could see what I see, you would know that there is only one "I" that expresses Itself through the numberless forms of life that make up our world and the uncountable worlds that spin out of the Heart of the Self.
If you could see what I see, you would realize that the "you" of you and the "I" of I are one and the same: Many drops, one Ocean. Many bodies, One Self.
If you could see what I see you would know that it is possible to see into worlds you've only dreamed or read about, or worlds you have absolutely no idea even exist! You would know it is possible to sit on the doorsill and move freely between these worlds. You would know that we truly "live, move, and have our being" in a far greater, dazzling, light-filled, love-filled Creation than you can possibly imagine.
If you could see what I see, you would know that the Self is absolutely attainable. That Stillness and the desire to know the Self are the keys to Waking Up. You would know that the Self is not impossibly far away, but very, very near. In fact, the Self is not even "near" - as that would imply "distance." You are the Self now and have always been and always will be.
Finally, if you could see what I see, you would focus on the Stream of Life that flows through everyone and everything, then wait with an Open Heart for the Self to reveal Itself to you. And let the adventure begin!
"My love for You goes deeper than my own soul.
My way amounts to this:
I don't say I'm inside of myself. I'm not.
The I within me is deeper than myself.
Anywhere I look, it's filled with You.
Where can I put You if You're already inside."
